In the orientation meeting, we will provide an overview of the ride routes, lunch stop, breaks, overnight locations and safety tips for riding on the trails, road and in a group. After breakfast at the hotel, we will ride over and meet up with our partners at Buffalo Bike Tours. They will be providing us with a history and architecture tour of Buffalo. This downtown tour stops at many of the city’s well-known buildings like Buffalo City Hall, the Electric Tower and the Guaranty Building. We will learn about the city’s economic booms, including the impact of the Erie Canal, and trailblazing community activists who were instrumental in the city’s founding.
Day 2 (7/26): Niagara Falls, ON & Niagara State Park Tour (35 miles, Breakfast is included. Lunch and Dinner are on your own)
Today, we will say goodbye to Buffalo and head to Niagara Falls (23 miles). When leaving Buffalo, we will take backstreets and hop on the Shoreline Trail. It is a 23-mile paved trail that is a combination of both on and off-road. The trail pathway is mostly flat and runs adjacent to Lake Erie and along the Niagara River as we head into Niagara Falls. On the way, there are numerous trailside parks with beautiful water scenery that are perfect for stopping for a snack or photo op.
We will pick up lunch in Niagara Falls and afterward head into Niagara Falls State Park, which is one of the oldest state parks in the nation. We’ll explore Goat Island, which is set in the middle of the Niagara River between the American and Canadian Falls. The natural scenery on Goat Island is beautiful. There will be a chance for some souvenir shopping and then we will head to our B&B. Our overnight will at the Days Inn by Wyndham in Niagara Falls, ON. Several dinner options are available.
Day 3 (7/27): Niagara Falls, ON to Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON to Welland, ON (40 miles, Dinner included - Breakfast and Lunch are on your own)
We'll grab breakfast on the way out of Niagara Falls, then cross the Rainbow Bridge into Canada. From there we’ll ride along the northern half of the Niagara River Recreational Trail to Niagara-On-The-Lake. The paved trail takes us through scenic parks and the Niagara wine country, which is home to over 70 award-winning wineries. Lunch will be on your own in Niagara-On-The-Lake (17 miles). This quaint town is a well-preserved 19th-century village with elegant Victorian architecture. Niagara-On-The-Lake has several food options including sandwich shops, bakeries and ICE CREAM!!
